Location
RAF Bomber Command, 115 Squadron at Witchford, near Ely

Dean - Johnston’s brother, stationed near Cambridge, north of London

Newmarket - Supporting airfield with no permanent squadron, and eventual home of the Bombing Development Unit

Stand down - Operations are not scheduled, or have been cancelled
August 6, 1944 (Sunday)

Dean woke me up about 10 a.m. We exchanged letters and talked until twelve, then he left. He’s getting ready to go away for a two week course at Newmarket.

Didn’t do much else all day – we had a squadron stand down. It’s been wonderful weather today.
