Kirsch - Canadian pilot and friend, who trained with Johnston, and was later posted to 90 Squadron at Tuddenham
Mess - Room where meals were eaten
Barbara - Johnston's girlfriend in Ontario |

Locked Kirsch’s and mine bikes together at the mess tonight - naturally
I forgot my keys and so we had to walk back to the barracks.
Posted my letter to Barbara tonight. I sure think of her often!
Her letter was really nice. I sure wish I was where I could make
something of it!
