January 9, 1944 (Sunday)

The Flight Sergeant was on leave this morning so there was no parade. Had classes as usual and I met the rest of my crew. Livingstone (who seems to be very nice and comes from Edmonton), and Peardon (who seems very talkative, but otherwise okay).

Found out that our forty-eight starts Thursday night and Kirsch has written to reserve us rooms.

We went up to the mess about 6:50 and wrote letters. I finished my letter to Barbara – it finally ended up at nineteen pages when I ran out of pad. Hope there’s some mail for me on Monday.
