Punk - Sick, poorly
Blueform - A blue coloured combination airmail letter and envelope, developed during the war specifically for use to or from military personnel based overseas
Barb - Johnston’s girlfriend in Ontario
Janke - Canadian pilot and friend who trained with Johnston
Screens - People who had completed their tours, and often assisted new crews in their training
Chutes - Parachutes

June 1, 1944 (Thursday)
Really punk last night – my cold is really bad. Doc wanted to put me in hospital but I didn’t go and about noon it cleared up a bit.
I got blueforms from Barb and Janke and wrote to Barb tonight. Played ball with some of the screens again this evening.
Got fitted for chutes today too.
