June 16, 1944 (Friday)
Up about one p.m. Saw photo – excellent. Bang on the aiming point. Too bad bombs hung up.
Dean came over to see me today. Spent the afternoon with him until five o’clock when he went back. He’s getting along fine and promises to be over about once a week. In return I’ve promised him several rides with me. Introduced him to the boys, then they buzzed off into Ely as we had a stand down today. I wrote to Barb tonight and now I’m going to do some reading.
The Engineer leader didn’t like our fuel consumption last night – took a very dim view of it. To hell with him though. My neck is precious.
Got my hat OK. Found out that it was a mechanical defect in the distributor last night – something that couldn’t be helped.
